In this post we share some pointers on speaking at events and how it can improve your ability to market your business.

Hi, it’s Karl here from Buzz Website Design and Marketing. Welcome to another marketing snippet to help you and your business to grow.

Right now, I’m in London at London Metropolitan University and I’m at WordCamp, which is WordPress website development convention that they run every year. The point of doing this video is not necessarily to tell you all about the techie stuff that is going on here. It’s to highlight the marketing benefit of being a speaker at conferences and events.

You see, when you’re speaking at events, it pitches you as an expert in the minds of

everybody in the audience and that can do huge things for your credibility and your marketability because there’s nothing that makes your ability to sell easier than being known and recognized as an expert or authority in your field. Interestingly enough, it’s surprisingly easy to get onto stages like this to do events. Funnily enough, I was just talking with the organizer and they did actually have a shortage of volunteers to do speaking at this event.

There’s events of all kinds in all shapes and sizes around the country happening all the time, so my encouragement to you is, can you get on the speaker roster?

I spoke at one of these events last year. It was brilliant, it did wonders for my credibility, and I used it to help our marketing. It’s actually surprisingly easy to do.

Having said that, if you’re not that comfortable with speaking onstage in front of a load of people, it’s probably not something you want to get into unless you want to take on a load of practice.

The point is this, it’s free publicity. It’s an easy and simple way of getting your name out there, but also to up the scale of your credibility and your authority in your market. Oftentimes, it just boils down to you volunteering.

So, if you think that’s useful, have a look around, see what’s going on. Can you put yourself in front of people? Can you get onto the stage? Can you be the expert, a recognized authority in your field by speaking at events, at conferences or conventions?

So, I hope that’s useful. Go out there and do it. Bye for now.
